DOUG YUAN
I’ve often been asked if I have a hollow leg or a tapeworm. As far as I know, I don’t, but I do love to eat.
My interest in food goes way back. There’s a scene in the 1981 movie The Four Seasons where Alan Alda and friends whip up an elaborate Chinese meal and eat it with lip-smacking gusto. I used to watch that scene over and over as a kid, and was especially fascinated by Rita Moreno and the way she ate her vermicelli noodles. (Excellent flick by the way, although why I was into a movie about middle-aged couples with marital problems is a mystery.)
It also didn’t hurt that I grew up with a great cook of a mom, and parents who exposed my sister and me to all types of foods, turning us into the adventurous eaters we are today. I’m not a food critic or professional chef, just a person with a big appetite who loves to cook and explore the area food scene in search of the next tasty bite. Enjoy the blog!
