Moonbean Cafe

I’m not sure how long Moonbean Cafe’s been around, but for whatever reason I’d never noticed it, not even on all my bike rides up Pleasantville Rd.  Could be because it looks a bit like a house.

Very comfy and welcoming inside, with several small tables, bins of coffee beans and nice artwork on the walls.

Pretty extensive menu too: breakfast items, wraps, salads, paninis, pastries, and an assortment of coffees and teas, including some special winter drinks like eggnog coffee, gingerbread coffee and peppermint hot chocolate.

My vanilla chai wasn’t a standout – a little watery – but I liked the place a lot.  It was so disappointing when Sunflour Café closed last year; ever since I’ve been searching around for another quality coffeehouse to add to the rotation. Moonbean will work quite nicely.

And of course, I always enjoy the people watching at a cafe; for example, the two men at the next table (not pictured) heatedly discussing some real estate deal, with one of them barking loud enough for the whole café to hear, dropping f-bombs every other sentence, and generally coming off as a Class-A jerk.

Best part was this exchange about one sticking point:

Guy #1: “I wouldn’t have touched this.”

Jerk: “Yeah, well I wouldn’t have gotten married if I had known how it was gonna go.”

Sir, I’m sure your wife’s thrilled she married you, too.
