Calling Portofino’s pizza slices “large” would be a gross understatement, like saying Yao Ming is “tall.” No, we need a better word… Vast? Epic?
I’m not kidding, a person could travel far and wide and never come across a pizzeria serving slices this big. Each slice takes up so much space, it arrives on three paper plates.
We tried to give this pic of my broccoli rabe slice some scale, by including a pair of sunglasses and a credit card in the shot.
Look how it’s extending across multiple plates.
Helps some, but it’s still hard to convey the length and width. How’s this?
My friends ate their pizza like normal people — folding it in half and working outwards. I didn’t know how to handle a slice this big and attacked it from all directions. ”What are you doing??” Kevin asked.
Here’s my recommendation for a perfect morning: park in the A&P parking lot in Goldens Bridge and go on a two and a half hour bike ride through picturesque, country roads. Then when you’ve worked up a hearty appetite, plop yourself down at Portofino for a galactic slice of pizza. Hits the spot.
