Very disappointing news passed on from reader Brian: Sunflour Cafe in Sleepy Hollow has closed its doors, seemingly permanently.
Such a major bummer. I was just there two weeks ago and had been planning on working from the deck this afternoon. I drove by to confirm; a note was taped to the door:
“The Sunflour Cafe has had to shut its doors. It has been a pleasure to serve the community for the last year. Thank you all for your support.”
Damn it. First Lighthouse Coffee Company, now Sunflour Cafe. I don’t know what happened, but I suspect the location was part of the problem — it’s a charming space and the river view is beautiful, but it appears it’s just too tucked away to sustain a profitable business.
Is that location doomed? Let’s hope not. I’ll be keeping my eye on it to see what moves in next. In the meantime, I miss Sunflour Cafe already.
