A few thoughts while waiting for Frank Pepe Pizzeria in Yonkers to open. Come on, guys! Let’s do this!
1. I recently attended a rather unique event at the Ritz-Carlton in White Plains called “Dining in the Dark”, to benefit the Foundation Fighting Blindness. The entire dinner was eaten in complete darkness. I didn’t take any pictures, for obvious reasons, but you can read about my experience here.
2. Curtis Stone, host of TLC’s Take Home Chef, will be signing copies of his new cookbook and conducting a recipe demonstration at Stew Leonard’s in Yonkers on Wednesday, June 24th, from 6-8pm.
3. Also on Stew Leonard’s, does anyone know if they’ve started selling their two for $10 lobster rolls yet? I’m assuming it’s a seasonal thing. I must try them.
4. President Obama went to Five Guys again this week. This was his second visit, and apparently Michelle likes to sneak out there too. What’s the deal with this place? The burgers must be really good. I see there’s a Five Guys in Nanuet… worth a trip?
5. The Fancy Food Show is coming up again at the Jacob Javits Center from June 28-30. I went last year and had a blast. Technically, the show’s only open to food trade professionals, but if you want to go, see if you can finagle a registration somehow. It’s worth it. But you didn’t hear that from me.
6. I know Blue Hill at Stone Barns is expensive and it’s incredibly difficult to snag a reservation there, but has anyone eaten at Blue Hill Cafe? Do they serve lunch or is it more snacky, baked goods kind of stuff?
7. Looking for something to do with dad on Father’s Day? Stay tuned for next week, when I’ll offer suggestions on fun Father’s Day activities, including places to eat while you’re out…

Go to 5 Guys. Worth it, definitely.
They serve lunch at Blue Hill Cafe. Everything is great. They also sell Rainbeau Ridge Goat Cheese and dried herbs and spices from Blue HIll.
Looking forward to your Father’s Day suggestions!

Blue Hill Cafe is decent, but I always find that it’s overcrowded and typically overpriced.
