A trivia question:

What’s the world’s most densely populated country?

My friends and I didn’t know.  We guessed Japan, but that was wrong.  I’ll give you the correct answer at the bottom of this post.  And if you already know it, well, you’re smarter than us and we want you on our team.  What are you doing on Wednesdays?

It’s a safe assumption that in our current economic miasma, practically everyone is looking for ways to save money.  We want deals; we want value; when we’re not holed up with Netflix we want a good time that won’t break the bank.  

How about Trivia Night at Kelly’s Irish Pub?

My friend Jenna told us about Trivia Night (a highly underrated activity) — it’s every Wednesday with drinks and appetizers at half price.  You’re pretty much guaranteed a fun night out.  

We ordered a few pitchers of beer and appetizers, like jalapeno poppers.

Chicken fingers.

And a pub staple, nachos.

Meanwhile, our team, “The Poppers”, was holding its own, but stumbling on several questions, like:

What does the acronym RCMP stand for?

Which Great Lake lies entirely in the U.S.?

What was The Bionic Woman’s character’s name?

Answers:
Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Lake Michigan 
Jaime Sommers 

(Jenna’s way too young to have known Jaime Sommers, but the rest of us old folks who watched The Bionic Woman should have gotten that one.)

In the end, we finished a respectable third out of six teams, losing out to the winner, “The Regulars” (think they play a lot?), but handily defeating team “Shalom.”

And the amount spent for all this trivia, beer and food?  A whopping $10 per person. Can’t do much better than that.
