A while ago, I promised to take more pics of Rue Des Crepes; I’d shown you one of their crepes, but what I really wanted you to see was the Parisian-inspired dining room.  Well, I finally got around to keeping my word during brunch with the restaurant meetup.

The colorful decor and French music instantly put me in a great mood (and looking around for Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke) — perhaps this explains why I always enjoyed the International Pavilions at Epcot…

The dining room comes complete with street signs and this great lamp post.

The painted doors even have real knobs on them.  Being the massive dork that I am, I was tempted to turn all knobs, even though I knew the doors went nowhere (Hey, you never know; what if one of them was a portal into John Malkovich’s consciousness or something?)

The fun decor would mean nothing if the food wasn’t also good.  Thankfully, the food more than holds up its end of the bargain.  MJ, a Rue Des Crepes veteran, recommended we start with the piping hot Pot O’Frites and its three dipping sauces: tomato basil aioli, spicy avocadonaise, and good ‘ol ketchup.  Suffice it to say, these went quickly.

We also shared another hit, the deliciously light crepe crisps — paper-thin baked crepes topped with cinnamon sugar and served with a lemon vanilla cream sauce.

Then it was on to the brunch menu.  Rue Des Crepes offers a fixed price $15 brunch that includes a drink (I chose the mimosa), a brunch crepe and a side green or fruit salad.  After much deliberation (too many enticing choices for my feeble brain), I went with the spicy merguez sausage, white bean and roasted garlic crepe.  Can you ever go wrong with sausage? No way, I say.

I knew everyone was enjoying themselves when the waiter brought over the dessert menu. Usually Karen and I end up being the only gluttons to dive in, but this time, practically the entire table went for a dessert.  It was a simple justification, really — most of us had ordered a savory crepe, so it only made sense that we sample a dessert crepe as well.

My mixed berry crepe with fat-free vanilla cream.  Not too sweet, popping with tangy, fresh berries — perfect.

The owner, Denise, told me they’re considering installing Wi-Fi. Denise, if you’re reading this, let me just say again that I wholeheartedly support this idea.  Yes, you’d get sick of seeing me in your creperie with my laptop, but I swear, I’lI sit quietly typing and eating crepes.  Is it okay if I turn the knobs on the doors?

Update: Rue Des Crepes now has free Wi-Fi!
