I was once a longtime Lenny's fan just like you. I thought their lunch special was pretty amazing. But then I went to Hand-Rolled Bagels in Rye, and am now a devoted fan. While it's true that their everything bagel is wayyy under-sprinkled (to my taste), I think the bagel itself is way better and less starchy.

ooh bagels? Best bagels in Westchester can be found in New Rochelle. H & R Bagels in the Quaker Ridge shopping center -- 2nd only to LBJ Bagels which closed some time ago. If you're looking for the perfect combination of not-so-doughy inside surrounded by the perfect crusty outside -- H & R is the place. Take out only -- expect long lines on Sunday mornings.

Ooooh, I've got one for you, Doug! Szechuan Pavilion is a little hole in the wall Chinese place on Westchester Ave. on the border of Rye Brook & Port Chester. They make a sizzing rice soup with a sweet-ish tomato base. Odd sounding but positively addictive. It's not even on the menu, you have to ask for it.

I'm also a fan of gazpacho at Whole Foods, as well as Trader Joe's.

Thanks for passing your favs along!
