I might have a new favorite kitchen gadget. I was at Chef Central the other day looking for a new can opener— my old one was getting worn down and just about gave me carpal tunnel every time I made black bean chili.
I came upon this: a “One Touch Hands-Free Can Opener”. Eureka!
The package says “As seen on TV”, which could very well mean it’s a piece of junk that’ll break in about a week (can you “set it and forget it”?). But I couldn’t resist, and so far, powered by two AA batteries, the opener’s cranked through four cans without a problem. It’s also fun to watch in action. Check it out:
Strangely mesmerizing, isn’t it? Does anyone else have one?
We’ll see how long it lasts. For now, armed with my trusty hands-free can opener, I no longer fear black bean chili.
