Lobster in a Bun: $38. Second Mortgage? Priceless.

Boy do I feel stupid.  Here I go ranting about Ebb Tide’s $14.95 lobster roll, and what do I read today on Grub Street, but a guide to Manhattan’s lobster rolls, from priciest to cheapest. And what do you know, $14.95 is on the cheap side.   At the high end of the scale is is Patroon’s $38 lobster roll.  $38?!! What, does the lobster hop out and perform show tunes??

So, I humbly apologize for overreacting.  My small town Westchester mind didn’t fully comprehend the scope of lobster roll inflation in our fair metropolis of Manhattan.  Next time I visit Ebb Tide I’m going to thank them for keeping their prices down.

Doug, taking Ebb Tide’s lobster roll into consideration, I don’t think you are overreacting. For $14.95, we are getting a lot of crab (or is it krab?), and a lot of roll. I bet Patroon’s $38 lobster is more lobster than anything else. Okay, maybe that is a little on the high side. But that is Manhattan, and Port Chester ain’t Manhattan.

I recommend getting the “2 for $9.95″ lobster rolls at Stew Leonard’s, they are chock full of (real) lobster chunks.

Good point- the Ebb Tide roll needs less filler and more lobster. I’m definitely going to check out Stew Leonard’s. 2 for $9.95 is an amazing deal. Thanks for the tip!
