Lunch today was bittersweet; I don’t mean the food, I mean the experience.  Several of us are relocating from Stamford to the Manhattan office, so we had kind of a farewell gathering.  It’s not like we’re never going to see each other again— it just won’t be the same.   And unfortunately, I’m about as big a sentimental sap as they come.

So it was a last meal at Brennan’s, a hidden little neighborhood spot tucked in the Shippan area of Stamford.  Like Norm in a Cheers Bar, there’s comfort in familiarity: the consistent no-frills menu of sandwiches and salads, the outdoor seating and the same friendly waitress who’s been serving us for four years!  I hold a certain fondness for the place.

Lobster sliders sure did sound good, but I had my usual, a salad and a Pilgrim sandwich.

You can never go wrong with Thanksgiving dinner stuffed into toasted bread. Mmm-mmm.

“Change is good.” “When one door closes another one opens.” “With great power comes great responsibility.” (whoops, that’s Spiderman).  I know all these things are true.  But regardless, I’ll miss Brennan’s, and I’ll miss my friends in Stamford.
